All of the classes that we teach are meant to be fun and intrinsically rewarding. That’s because movement feels good– our bodies like it. We don’t worry about getting the moves “exactly” the “right way” because there is no “right way” when you are dancing for fun and for fitness. We love to say, “if you are moving, you are doing it right!”
Here are the descriptions of some of the classes that we teach:
Beginning Moves Beginning Moves is a dance-fitness class that is ideal for beginner exercisers and beginner dancers. Get ready for an hour of movin’, shakin’ and groovin’ as you dance away your cares and get a low impact cardio workout while you’re at it. The steps we’ll do in this class will focus on the most basic level of difficulty, and you can expect lots of repetition to help you learn the steps better. Everyone dances, including you, in Beginning Moves! Find a weekly Beginning Moves class. Hit it Hit it is an exhilarating fusion of dance and martial arts that promises a heart-pumping hour of fun and muscle-toning for the entire body. Come relieve some stress and jam to the beat while throwing some punches, blocks and kicks. Then spice it up even more with some feel-good simple dance moves in between. Find a weekly Hit it class. DanceOut! DanceOut! is a dance-inspired fitness class that feels like more like a party than a workout. Jam to HOT tunes from many different musical genres, including Hip Hop, Latin, Pop, Swing, Oldies, Reggae and More! The moves are simple and repetitive so everyone can do it, plus you will move your entire body and have fun while doing it! If you don’t like to workout, but you like to dance, then this class is for YOU! Don’t workout, DanceOut! Find a weekly DanceOut! class. Urban Shimmy The East meets the West in this eclectic mix of Middle Eastern and Western music and dance styles, including Belly dance, Bhangra and Hip Hop. You will get a cardio workout, but be ready to also tone and shape your arms, abs and buns with these hot moves. Shimmy around the world with us in Urban Shimmy! Find a weekly Urban Shimmy Class. Zumba Zumba is a Latin-dance inspired fitness class with salsa, merengue, samba, bachata, mambo, cumbia, reggaeton and other international rhythms. Zumba incorporates full-body moves that are easy to follow and fun to do. You will tone your entire body and lose weight all while having a great time. Show Me Sessions

Who should attend? Show Me Sessions are available for anyone who wants some extra explanation for the steps that we do in class. Everyone from beginners to advanced can get something out of the sessions. Will I get a workout? This will not be the typical cardio workout that we do in class. Instead, you will find that it is more of a toning workout, as you discover the muscles that are in charge of making the body move in certain ways. You will definitely feel those muscles the next day. What will we do? These sessions primarily center around the questions that you have. You might want to practice samba, salsa, hip hop, swing or cumbia. You might want to practice your hip circles, chest circles, chest pumps or flamenco arms. Or, you might want me to show you how you can increase or decrease the intensity or difficulty on a particular step. We will take each step and break it down to its most basic level, and then gradually add on layers of difficulty. How much do they cost? You can attend these sessions in the same way that you attend my other classes by using your current class package or paying for a drop-in. If you are a Jam Crew member, you can attend the sessions free of charge! Sorry, but classes purchased through Judy at the Adult Rec Center can not be redeemed at this session. Do I have to pre-register? Pre-registration is appreciated, as the sessions will only occur if a minimum of 10 people have signed up- Jam Crew included. If you haven't pre-registered, and you decide to come at the spur of the moment that is fine too! However, if you have specific questions, you should definitely register because questions will be addressed in the order that you have signed up. Where and when do they take place? Next Session TBA |
