My name is Katherine Walker but of course you can call me Kat. I’m a navy brat and don’t consider myself “from” anywhere but my family is from Puerto Rico. While in college at Florida State University, I saw the Zumba infomercials and thought “Man that looks fun!” but I was a heavy girl so I thought I couldn’t do it. In 2007, I started attending a Zumba class at my local gym and that instructor told me I had to become certified. I’ve loved teaching Zumba ever since! I’ve never been formally trained in dance but latin music is in my blood! It’s been an incredible journey. Being a nurse brought me to Charlotte but the incredible people at QCDQ kept me here. I currently teach Urban Shimmy and Zumba in Charlotte. You have to come and dance with us. Try it one time and you’ll be hooked. Come and check out our exercise in disguise! Email Kat |
